Site Location
Located at 115 King Street East, between Church and Jarvis Streets and directly south of St. James’ Cathedral, the Toronto Sculpture Garden was both a civic and a private initiative. The 80’ x 100’ site is situated between two “City Buildings” built in the Georgian style of the early 1840’s.
For the first 35 years, the TSG operated as a unique partnership between the City of Toronto, who owned and operated it as a city park, and the Louis L. Odette family, who created the non-profit L.L.O. Sculpture Garden Foundation to lease the site and fund the exhibitions. Mayors David Crombie and John Sewell each played a significant role in the development of this special city park with its privately funded art exhibitions.
When the lease expired in 2014, the Culture Division of the City of Toronto assumed responsibility for programming the site. The Toronto Sculpture Garden continues to host work on an intermittent basis.
