Our Donors
On behalf of myself and the over 100 artists who exhibited in the Toronto Sculpture Garden, a grateful thank you our wonderful donors for their generous support of an archival website of those formative years. The substantial grant from TFVA was the lead donation which kick-started the fundraising initiative to enable this archive.
The TSG was a trailblazer in establishing a permanently temporary sculpture exhibition space in Toronto and played a critical role as an incubator -- by nurturing artists to work outdoors and by developing a public appreciation and appetite for contemporary sculpture.
Public art flew under the radar for decades, but with the recent resurgence of interest, it is more important than ever to understand the history of what the TSG artists thought about and created -- and how they learned about site and materials and context from their experience in that space.
So many of the artists that currently participate in the City of Toronto’s Percent for Public Art Program got their first opportunity to work in the public realm in the Toronto Sculpture Garden.
By funding this website, the TSG Donors have protected the history of the exciting works that were showcased in its first 35 years and have provided an invaluable educational resource for future generations.
